Regional Improving Opportunity Strengthening Society

GOSE Events - Gravesham Borough Council will be attending an event organised by the Government Office of the South East (GOSE) entitled: Regional Improving Opportunity Strengthening Society Event.

The event will be held in London on 30 September 2005, and is being held to discuss with key Regional Stakeholders how best to take forward the delivery of increasing race equality and community cohesion in the South East. GOSE have asked Gravesham to present their work on promoting race equality to stimulate a discussion around further work we could do in the South East. A presentation will be delivered jointly by David Williams, Executive Director of Corporate Services, Melanie Norris, Head of Personnel and Asset Management, and Christopher Woodley, Head of Policy and Partnerships, around our key strengths in this area, particularly from a “district” perspective. A question and answer session will then be facilitated by a GOSE representative, which Gravesham’s speakers will also take part in.

Gravesham Borough Council are members of the South East Community Cohesion Network, and are committed to present at the next South East Community Cohesion Learning Network meeting on 6 October at Bridge House in Guildford. There are normally about 20 attendees at this meeting including local authority officers working on community cohesion and race equality, police representatives, GOSE colleagues and other Regional partners with an interest in community cohesion and race equality eg SEEDA and NASS. These members are particularly interested in how Gravesham has developed their close links with grassroots communities, and a presentation will be given to this group around how Gravesham has achieved their strong community partnerships. An opportunity to engage in a discussion around the presentation will also be available.
