Safer car park scheme

This page was last modified on 23 February 2009

The council is committed to improving its car parks to reduce car crime and the fear of crime.

To that end a successful bid was made for European funding via the Urban Thames Gateway Kent initiative to make improvements to and achieve a car park standard that will meet the national park mark safer parking award.

The safer parking scheme is an initiative of the Association of Chief Police Officers and is supported by the Home Office.  With the Urban funding the council has achieved the safer parking awards for Parrock Street, Milton Place and Rathmore Road car parks.
