Council acts to save red phone boxes

This page was last modified on 10 November 2008

Gravesham council decided in September to register an interest in adopting two of the four red phone boxes in Gravesend town centre to ensure they were saved as part of the town's heritage.

Members decided then to tell BT that the council was interested in adopting the two boxes outside the old Town Hall in High Street. The cost is expected to be £500 a year each.

The expression of interest was made well before the 1 November deadline.
