CAMS collects another prestigious prize
The Cobham Ashenbank Management Scheme proudly picked up another prestigious award for the restoration of Darnley Mausoleum this week.
CAMS walked away with The RICS South East Award for building conservation on Thursday 21 May at a ceremony held in the beautiful Cowdray House Ruin in West Sussex. The award recognised the architect's attention to detail when restoring the mausoleum in Cobham. South East region judge John Playle said the Darnley Mausoleum was a "fine conservation project of a grade 1 listed building." And the building which was once extensively fire damaged and vandalised is now "meticulously restored and repaired." CAMS fought off Leeds Castle, in Maidstone, Winchester College, in Hampshire, Greys Court, in Oxfordshire, Petworth House in West Sussexand Winchester Discovery Centre in Hampshire, to win this highly sought afterprize. CAMS was also short-listed in the regeneration category. The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors South East Awards 2009 celebrates excellence across four categories of building conservation, community benefit, sustainability and Regeneration. CAMS won its first prestigious award in November last year for the restoration of Cobham Parkand the Darnley Mausoleum, at The Georgian Group Architectural Awards 2008.
