Gravesham Council works through the L.B.P. to offer advice and information to businesses in respect of all the services which it offers. The Council have signed up to the Government's Enforcement Concordat which includes the Principles of Good Enforcement: Standards, Openness, Helpfulness, Complaints Procedure, Proportionality and Consistency.

Trading Standards enforce legislation aimed at protecting consumers and ensuring businesses compete fairly. They also provide consumers with information and advice to help them resolve consumer problems and help businesses with specialist advice and assistance in interpreting the law.

Groundwork is a national organisation of over 50 local Trusts. For almost twenty years, they have been working with business, local people and public bodies to improve quality of life through economic and social regeneration.

The Business Support Team provides free help and support to businesses and employers.
Their aim is simple - to help people in business get to grips with their Tax and National Insurance obligations.
Their locally based advisors run workshops and can also offer a visit to help with a particular problem. Remember all their seminars are free.

North West Kent college offers a wide range of courses for all ages and abilities. Their facilities are excellent at both the Gravesend and Dartford sites. With full time, part time and evening classes available the college is populated with students from many backgrounds and learning abilities. The college also has close links with the University of Greenwich.

The PLA has statutory responsibility for the conservation and regulation of navigation of 150 km of the tidal River Thames and owns much of the river bed and foreshore up to the high water mark. They can help with registration of craft, the licensing of waterman and lighterman, river works and pilotage matters.

Philip Painter is your your local police representitive in the Gravesham Local Business Partnership.

As an police officer in Gravesham for the past 17 years he hopes to know some of the issues concerning those who live and work in the borough. He is a Sergeant in the crime reduction department at North Kent Area and is tasked with delivering business plan objectives to the widest possible audience.

Many members of the business community will have been the victims of crime . It is his job to work with those organisations to identify long term solutions to issues which are costing real money to local people.
