REC Mission Statement
"The North West Kent Racial Equality Council is a voluntary organisation working in partnership to create a just society which gives everyone an equal chance to learn, work and live free from discrimination and prejudice, and the fear of racial harassment and violence"

The REC provides free and confidential advice to victims of racial discrimination and racial harassment. It also works very closely with statutory services in North West Kent to ensure they provide an appropriate service to all of the local community.

Based on the 2001 Census figures, Gravesham has the largest BME population in Kent , with 10.5%, while the figure for Dartford is 5.5%, which compares with a Kent wide figure of 3.5%
