Advice for residents

Last updated on: 22-May-2020

Public Health England are updating the coronavirus page on the GOV.UK website daily with the latest information.

The Prime Minister made an address on Sunday 10 May which outlines the roadmap to reopen society. Further details on the roadmap can be found in the government’s recovery strategy.

The government has published a FAQs page on what you can and can’t do during the coronavirus outbreak from Wednesday 13 May.

GOV.UK have launched a Coronavirus WhatsApp Information Service. The new free to use service aims to provide official, trustworthy and timely information and advice about coronavirus (COVID-19), and will further reduce the burden on NHS services. For accurate and up to date information, simply add 07860 064422 in your phone contacts and then message the word ‘hi’ in a WhatsApp message to get started.

Community Advice and Support

Prevent coronavirus spreading

There are things we can all do to help stop viruses like coronavirus spreading:

  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • put used tissues in the bin immediately
  • wash your hands with soap and water often – use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
  • do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean.

If you are worried about your symptoms, use the online NHS 111 coronavirus service or call NHS 111. Do not go directly to your GP, pharmacy, hospital or other healthcare setting.

Public Health England has published guidance on making and wearing face cloth coverings.
