Help, Support and Advice

2. Help for the vulnerable

If you are clinically extremely vulnerable, you are no longer advised to shield. However, you should continue to follow the guidance for people who are clinically extremely vulnerable and are advised to continue taking extra precautions to protect yourself. It is important that you continue to keep the number of social interactions that you have low and try to limit the amount of time you spend in settings where it is difficult to maintain social distancing.

Gravesham supporting the vulnerable

We are working with the North West Kent Volunteer Centre and other community partners to get vital supplies and medicines to those who need them most in our community.

If you, or anyone you know is vulnerable or self-isolating and without an immediate support network, you can ask for help. This may include help with your shopping or having a prescription collected.

Support with food, shopping and deliveries

We have prepared some information about getting food during the COVID-19 pandemic. For further information please see the government’s guidance on accessing food and essential supplies. We've also created a list of local essential businesses within our borough that are accepting orders for food and supplies.

There are foodbanks in Gravesend who are there should you need to access support, although unable to deliver.

The Gravesend Foodbank is open Tuesday to Friday 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Riverside Community Centre
Dickens Road
DA12 2JY

The Hive Foodbank is open Wednesday only 11am to 1pm

To access support you will need an E-voucher which you can request by phoning 01474 337000. You will be issued with an e-voucher to use within 3 days to collect a food parcel. Please make us aware if you are self-isolating and do not have anyone to collect for you.

Are you able to donate food? Visit the Gravesham Foodbank website for more information.
