Check your bin day
Use our bin day checker to find out your rubbish, recycling and garden waste collection day.
Your rubbish is collected one week and you're recycling the next week. Food waste is collected each week.

Sign up for garden waste
We can collect your garden waste for a small fee. The service runs all year (except over Christmas and New Year).
There are two sized bins to choose from. Alternatively, if you have a small amount of waste, we can provide garden sacks.

Renew my garden waste subscription
If you are an existing subscriber and signed up on or before 13 February 2019 your subscription will end on 30 April 2019.
Otherwise, your subscription will expire 12 months after you signed up. You will receive a renewal letter a month before the expiry of your subscription. Once you have received this letter you will be able to renew online.

Book a bulky collection
For a small fee we'll collect your large bulky items, metal items, and old fridges and freezers.

Change/Cancel Bulky Collection
You can change or cancel your booking providing you tell us by midday the day before your collection.
Example - If your collection day is Thursday, you must let us know you want to change your booking by midday on Wednesday.
Using our online form, you can add items, remove items, swap items, change your collection date, or cancel your booking.
Simply provide your name, post code, and booking reference number using our online form.

Order a new bin
You can use our online form to:
- Replace a damaged, lost or stolen bin
- Order an extra bin for recycling and/or food waste
- Order missing bin(s) for a property you've just moved into
Order garden waste bins/sacks
If you'd like to order another garden waste bin, or garden sacks, you'll need to buy them. Find out more information on our garden waste collection page.

Order clear sacks
Black sacks and clear sacks (for those who can't have wheeled bins) are delivered to households every 12-13 weeks (usually January, April, July and October). You will receive the equivalent of one black and one clear sack per week.
If you run out of clear sacks before your next delivery you can use our online form to order more.
It can take up to ten working days for your clear sacks to be delivered. Before sending them out we'll also check your address against our database to make sure you are entitled to more sacks and that you've not got a recycling bin.
We are unable to supply additional black sacks. If you run out before your next delivery you'll need to purchase any additional sacks yourself.

Assisted bin collection
Our assisted collection service is there for people who can't take their bins or sacks to the kerbside due to disability or ill health.
Part assisted collection
When you're not physically capable of moving your sacks and/or recycling bin(s) to the edge of the pavement but you're able to get the empty bin(s) back to your home.
Full assisted collection
When you're not physically capable of moving your sacks and/or recycling bin(s) to the edge of the pavement and you're not able to get them back to your home.

Clinical waste
We offer a free collection service to households for your used needles and medical bags. If you have used sharps and/or clinical bags, we can collect them and get rid of them for you.
We offer three services:
- Exchanges (in partnership with Cannon Hygiene) - we can set up a weekly collection and delivery service for your sharps box or medical bags.
- Collection only - if you would like a one-off collection of a sharps box or clinical bag, we can arrange this for you
- Delivery only - if you are a new user and need a one-off delivery of a sharps box or clinical bag, we will arrange this for you.

Report fly tipping
We are only able to clear rubbish dumped on our own land. We can also clear household items such as black sacks and furniture from public pavements.
If rubbish has been dumped on private land, including alleys, then it's up to the land owner to clear it and if the fly-tipping is hazardous then you'll need to speak to the Environment Agency on 0645 33 31 11.

Report graffiti
Graffiti is vandalism and costs the taxpayer money.
If you have discovered graffiti on the following types of property then you'll need to report it to the company that owns it:
- BT phones boxes and cabinets
- Railway bridges or structures
- Virgin Media cabinets
- Royal Mail Post Box
- Road information and directional signs
- Electricity substation
Graffiti found anywhere else will be removed by us.

Overflowing bins
We regularly empty litter bins as part of our street cleaning service.
If you notice a litter or dog bin that's overflowing or broken then you can report it to us using our online form.

If you wish to report dog fouling, you can do so using our online form. Any information passed to us will be treated confidentially.

Request grass cutting
Most grass areas receive eight cuts a year, between March and October. Larger grass areas in our main parks generally receive 12 cuts a year.

We no longer cut urban or rural roadside verges. Please report these to Kent Highways.

Request street cleaning
We're responsible for cleaning the following areas:
- The town centre every day of the week
- Local shopping parades every Mon-Sat
- Main roads at least once a week
- Residential streets are litter picked either weekly or fortnightly the working day after refuse collection
We're not responsible for removing rubbish on private land (including alleys), maintenance of roads and footpaths, spraying of weeds or maintenance of trees in the road or on footpaths. These should be reported to Kent County Council.

Do I need planning permission?
You'll need to get planning permission for a new building or for any major changes to existing buildings.
However, smaller changes, such as those made to houses, may not need planning permission, subject to certain limits and conditions.

If a vehicle is road legal, is parked on the public highway and the owner tells us that it's not abandoned, we have no power to remove the vehicle.
