Local Plan Review questionnaire: we are sorry but there are errors

Unfortunately mistakes do happen. Of course we would rather they didn’t, and they rarely do, but some errors have been found in the local plan review questionnaire.

We apologise for these mistakes and we have put in place some measures to ensure our mistakes have no impact on your consultation responses. Your views are important to us.

The measures are:

Online survey

The questionnaire on our website – www.gravesham.gov.uk/yoursay - has been corrected.

Drop-in sessions

We have a number of drop-in sessions planned (details below). You can collect a revised printed questionnaire at these sessions, if you wish, as well as take the opportunity to talk to officers about the consultation options.

Revised printed copies

You can email planning.consultation@gravesham.gov.uk with your name, address and postcode and a full consultation pack (which includes the revised questionnaire, pre-paid reply envelope and consultation document) will be sent to you in the post. These will be posted from Wednesday 2 May.

You can also collect a revised printed version from the Civic Centre in Gravesend from Wednesday 2 May.

Printed copies already delivered to homes

You can still complete the questionnaire. You can also mark your exact view on the questionnaire, if you wish to do so, as follows

  1. Question 3 – on the second column (3.continued) a scaling option was incorrect. The second option read ‘agree’ where it should read ‘important’. You could cross out ‘agree’ and write in ‘important’. However, the visual scale is correct and in validation we will be logging these responses as ‘important’
  2. On question 6 – on the scaling the last option read ‘not at all important, where it should read ‘strongly disagree’.  You could cross out ‘not at all important’ and write in ‘strongly disagree’.  However, the visual scale is correct and in validation we will be logging these responses as ‘strongly disagree’.
  3. On question 11, (the number of years you’ve lived in Gravesham), please cross out 2-3 years and write in 2-5 years if this timeframe is applicable for you.

If you have sent in your questionnaire / completed an online version – your views will still be counted and we have a process for validation in place. If you wish to complete a new questionnaire you can do this. No need to worry that you’ve already sent one in.

How did this happen?

These mistakes unfortunately happened in final production. The consultation document and questionnaire went through many stages and unfortunately these errors took place as we finalised the document for print. This isn’t acceptable but we wish to reassure you that your views count. This is why we have put in place these measures. We don’t want there to be any further confusion.

What happens next?

A number of measures have now been put in place for when the consultation closes and evaluation takes place. The questions with errors will be looked at in detail, and separately to other questions, so we fully understand any implication our error has had on these questions. We will also seek external validation on the evaluation of these questions.

All responses to this consultation will inform another stage of consultation later in 2019. The 2019 consultation will be based on more specific and detailed proposals to take forward the local plan.
