The role
We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Temporary Accommodation Officer to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of homeless households by helping them access safe, temporary housing and supporting their journey toward more permanent accommodation.
As part of our Temporary Accommodation Team, you’ll manage a patch of properties, arrange placements, and ensure households understand and meet their responsibilities. You’ll be the key point of contact for clients, property providers, and internal teams, making sure accommodation is well-managed, safe, and cost-effective.
What you’ll be doing
- Arrange and manage temporary housing placements for homeless households.
- Conduct property inspections and address issues such as anti-social behaviour or tenancy breaches.
- Support clients with move-on plans and help them understand their housing options.
- Monitor rent accounts and ensure tenants meet their financial obligations.
- Liaise with accommodation providers and negotiate cost-effective placements.
- Keep accurate records and ensure all documentation is uploaded to relevant systems.
- Promote excellent customer service and contribute to service development.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Organised and proactive, with experience in housing or property management.
- Empathetic and customer-focused, able to communicate effectively with vulnerable individuals and families.
- Confident using IT systems, with strong record-keeping and administrative skills.
- A team player, who can also work independently and manage their own caseload.
- Committed to safeguarding and equality, with a good understanding of relevant legislation and council policies.
