Site Allocations and Development Management Policies Document

We have undertaken a Regulation 18 (Stage 2) consultation on the Partial Review of the Local Plan Core Strategy, Site Allocations and Development Management Policies Document. The consultation ran for six weeks from 23 October to 31 December 2020.

Following an initial consultation in 2018, we have considered your comments and gathered additional information to inform the amount of development needed in the Borough to 2036, and where this development could take place. The detailed policies in the Development Management Policies Document have been updated, and both documents have taken account of changes in national policy.

Views were sought on the following documents

  • Part 1 - Local Plan Core Strategy Partial Review and Site Allocations Document
  • Part 2 - Development Management Policies Document
  • Support Documents

The part 1 document sets out the housing, employment and retail issues and needs of the Borough to 2036 and seeks comments on the proposed options for addressing them. It also seeks comments on proposed site allocations. The Development Management Policies Document provides detailed policies, which apply to the whole Borough and will be taken into account when considering planning applications.

Please note that this consultation is now closed.

Other Supporting Documents

A number of other supporting documents have been prepared. At present these documents relate to the evidence supporting imposing a tariff on new residential development within Gravesham. This is with the aim of lessening the impact of new housing development on birds within the Thames Estuary and Marshes Ramsar Site and Special Protection Area.

Further documents will be added to the list once they are completed.
