Lord Street T&Cs

Lord Street Temporary Car Park Permit

From May 2021 we will no longer be issuing paper parking permits; instead we will issue e-permits. An e-permit is an electronic version of a paper permit. This allows the permit holder to park within Lord Street Temporary Car Park without the need to display a physical permit in the windscreen.

  1. You will not be sent a paper permit in the post. You will receive an email confirmation stating you have an e-permit, and you will be able to start parking your vehicle once you have confirmation that your application has been processed and you have made payment. You do not need to print out or display anything in your vehicle.
  2. Our Civil Enforcement Officers are able to check permits by entering the number plate on their handheld devices. So long as you have a valid permit and are parked correctly you will not be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice.
  3. You will be able to change your personal details and vehicle details through your online account.
  4. The e-permit is only valid within Lord Street Temporary Car Park.
  5. Your e-permit does not entitle you to any special exemption from any other restrictions within the above car parks, for example parking causing an obstruction.
  6. Those working in the Town Centre are able to obtain a 50% discount on the standard charge. To obtain this discount you will need to supply proof of employment in two forms (a typed and recently dated letter from your employer on company letter headed paper confirming your employment along with a copy of a recent payslip) as well as evidence of vehicle ownership in the form of the vehicle log book (V5C) or insurance documents. For company issued vehicles, we will require a typed and recently dated letter from your employer on company letter headed paper confirming you have been issued a company vehicle. You agree to provide additional information if required to confirm employment or vehicle ownership.
  7. You must not assign or transfer the e-permit to any person. For those obtaining the Town Centre Workers 50% discount, the e-permit must be cancelled if you cease employment within the town centre or sell the vehicle for which the e-permit has been issued. You must not sell on or pass the e-permit to a colleague.
  8. As Lord Street Temporary Car Park is a permit holder’s only car park, this permit guarantees a parking space.
  9. If you do not renew your permit within five working days of its expiry, your space will be lost and may be offered to the next person on our waiting list. The waiting list was closed in 2018 due to plans for redevelopment on the car park site and therefore if your space is lost, you cannot be added back onto the waiting list. We are unable to hold spaces while permit holders are on holiday or on annual leave. Permits must be renewed before you go on holiday as we cannot guarantee a space will be available on your return.
  10. E-permits are limited to one per person.
  11. This is a temporary car park and therefore the surface of the car park is reflected in the significantly lower permit cost compared to other nearby car parks. Weather conditions can affect the surface in the car park. Gravesham Borough Council accepts no responsibility for damage to vehicles however caused.
  12. For those obtaining the Town Centre Worker discount, proof of employment and vehicle documentation as detailed on our website are required every six months for audit purposes and to ensure our records are kept up to date. If you purchase a six month permit, you will automatically need to provide this when renewing. For permits less than six months, you will be contacted when the documentation is required.
  13. If you wish to cancel your permit for a refund, you can request a cancellation via your account. Refunds can only be issued for any full remaining months on your permit.
  14. E-permits remain the property of Gravesham Borough Council and may be cancelled if found to be misused.
  15. If fraudulent applications are detected or if terms of use are breached this permit will not be valid and your vehicle will be subject to enforcement action.
