About the site

The site at Worcester Close occupies a sustainable location and the proposal will make the most efficient use of a piece of council owned land, situated within the boundary of an identified second tier settlement.

The development will provide a eight one and two-bedroom units providing a valuable contribution towards the Council's housing supply. Homes will be made available for affordable or social rent and will be reserved for households in need with a local connection to Istead Rise.

Homes will be designed to high space and environmental standards. There will be a mixture of private and communal amenity space, car and cycle parking with a high-quality landscaped setting. The design and materials have been chosen to reflect the vernacular of the surrounding area including the use of high gable ends.

Overall, the scheme will meet the requirements of the Planning Framework, providing much needed new housing, whilst achieving a high-quality building which is visually attractive, reflecting the prevailing character of the local area and creating a high standard of amenity for new residents, whilst protecting the amenity of the surrounding residential properties.
