General Information and Responsibilities

The whole of the borough of Gravesham is covered by a public space protection order for fouling except for land used for agriculture, rural common land, Jeskyns Park (as this is Forestry Commission land) highways with a speed limit of 50mph or more and most private land.

In the areas covered by the public space protection order it is a legal requirement for the person in charge of a dog to pick up after them and remove any fouling from site by putting it in a bin or by taking it home and disposing of it in the normal refuse.

The council has been out to consultation on the renewal of the Public Space Protection Order for dog fouling to commence on 1 February 2024. Following that consultation the replacement PSPO has been signed and sealed the Notice of Making of a PSPO January 2024.
