Our Waste Management Unit is based at Brookvale Depot, Northfleet.

The service is made up of two key teams:

  • Waste and Recycling Team who are responsible for collecting domestic refuse and recycling, food waste, garden waste and clinical waste.
  • Street Cleansing Team who are responsible for litter picking, litter bin emptying, road sweeping and fly-tipping removal.

Rubbish and recycling are collected on alternative weeks. Food waste is collected weekly, by a separate vehicle to the rubbish collection.

If you're subscribed to the garden waste collection service, collections are once every two weeks.

Policies and performance

We publish an annual report about the performance and key projects of our Waste Management Teams.

Our waste management policy sets out the service standards, how we handle contamination and our key projects.

Read about our litter bins including dog waste across the borough, in our Litter Dog Waste Bin Policy.

Planning guidance on waste collection requirements provides guidance on the requirements for the Council’s waste collection service.

Kent Resource Partnership

We are part of the Kent Resource Partnership (KRP), with Kent County Council (KCC) and other district councils. They deal with the waste once we have collected it.

The Kent Joint Municipal Waste Management Strategy sets out how the KRP intends to manage its household waste.
