Bag of electrics behind door

We are organising our own electrical recycling collection point, at the Civic Centre reception on Thursday 12th October between 11:00 and 15:00 for recycling.

Electrical waste is now the fastest growing waste stream in the world - and the UK. Thousands of tonnes of electricals are discarded every year, which poses a major threat to the environment and to human health. But we all have the power to change that.

The reality is anything with a plug, battery, cable can be recycled into everything from children’s playgrounds to lifesaving equipment! International E-Waste Day (IEWD) is on 14th October this year, and is a key moment to raise awareness about the importance of reusing and recycling our electricals.

How Can I Get Involved?

We are organising our own electrical recycling collection point. Simply find a bag or box to collect your small electricals and bring them to the Civic Centre reception.

You can bring in your old, broken or unwanted kettles, toasters, cables, and anything else with a plug, battery or cable. If it is smaller than a microwave and can fit in a bag-for-life, we can accept it for recycling!

If you can’t get to the Civic Centre on the day, use the Recycle Your Electricals locator to find your nearest donation or recycling point. With over 15,000 locations across the UK, there’s one closer than you think!

Please visit Recycle Your Electricals Recycling Locator to find your nearest drop-off points for electricals and batteries.

How Will Your Electricals be Recycled?

The electricals will then be sent to SWEEEP Kuusakoski in Sittingbourne for recycling.

Remember, anything with a plug, battery or cable can and should be recycled.

Never bin them - bag up your electricals ready for recycling. Find out more about IEWD here
