Social value is anything that makes a positive difference. We can achieve it through our everyday work, like buying goods and services, and also through partnerships with local businesses and community groups.

Gravesham Borough Council is committed to embedding social value in all our housing projects. This means ensuring that our developments deliver benefits beyond new homes — creating opportunities, supporting local organisations, and improving community wellbeing.

Why it matters

Delivering social value helps us:

  • Support local charities and community groups
  • Create jobs and apprenticeships for local people
  • Provide training and skills development
  • Improve public spaces and facilities
  • Promote health, wellbeing, and inclusion
