Maries emporium and tea room

Businesses in the town centre were able to apply for a shop front improvement grant, and 14 successful businesses have been chosen.

The second and final payments are going out this week to the 14 local businesses who were successful in the 2024/5 initial tranche of grant funding.

The grant scheme application process proved to be very popular and subsequently was heavily oversubscribed, with a total cost of approximately £143,000 being requested from all applicants last November, from a total grant allocation of just £65,000.

From the applications received – 14 local Gravesend town centre businesses were awarded grants ranging from £2,400 to the maximum £5,000 and they were:

  • Allen Carpets - Windmill Street
  • Chalmers Wholesale - Harmer Street
  • Kula Kuts - Parrock Street
  • Revitalize Clinic – Windmill Street
  • Toxic Angel – High Street
  • Antonio & Giovanni Salon – Queen Street
  • Reliance Fish restaurant – Queen Street
  • For Girly’s – Stone Street
  • Manor Estates (South East) – High Street
  • Marie’s Tearoom – High Street
  • Medical Eye Centre – King Street
  • Munns of Gravesend – Windmill Street
  • The Nuthouse Barbershop – Parrock street
  • The Panic Rooms – New Road

It is hoped that when the new financial year starts a second round of grants will be made available, and depending on the level of any such grant, we hope to widen the scheme further to assist more of Gravesham’s independent businesses where we can.
