Gravesham Borough Council has started on a programme of improvements at The Hive in Northfleet.
Following a consultation with residents and businesses on the estate, the council is using up to £200,000 of government funding on the undercroft area to make it brighter and more welcoming.
Additional lighting is being installed, and the area is being painted, including a mural by a local artist. New play equipment is also being installed.
A series of free family art workshops are being held throughout the summer at The Hive, and some of the art produced by those taking part will be used in the decoration of the area and improvement works.
The sessions are on the 6, 13, 20, and 27 of August between 1pm and 4pm at Unit 13 at The Hive.
Cllr Shane Mochrie-Cox, deputy leader of Gravesham Borough Council, said:
“Having spoken to those who live and work at The Hive about what they would like to see, we are living up to our promises to revitalise The Hive and promote business there.
“The works will run throughout the summer, and we are working hard to ensure there is minimal disruption and that the businesses there can operate as usual throughout.”
