A newly expanded play area at Rosherville Park in Northfleet has been officially opened by Gravesham MP Lauren Sullivan.
The upgrade uses outdoor gym equipment that was previously at Gordon Promenade (the Prom). After being repaired and refurbished, the equipment has now been installed at Rosherville Park. It includes a hand bike, twin oblique station, recumbent bike, cross trainer and treadmill.
The project was funded through £5,000 from Lauren’s former Kent County Council Member Grant, awarded while she was a Kent County Councillor. Gravesham Borough Council matched this funding, making the improvements possible.
Lauren said:
“This area is close to my heart, and so I am proud to have been able to play a part in upgrading the equipment available to local people to enjoy.
“I’d like to thank everyone who helped make this happen, especially the local residents who first brought this request to me, as well as the officers at Gravesham Borough Council for the significant role they played.
“As the MP, I will continue to call for funding for Gravesham - to help improve the places we call home and the lives of local people wherever I can.”

Lauren was joined at the opening by Cllr Emma Morley, Gravesham Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Operational Services. Cllr Morley said:
“We are grateful for Lauren’s support in upgrading the play area here at Rosherville.
“Our play areas around the borough play an important part in getting our young residents out and exercising in the fresh air, and all contributions to maintaining and improving them are very welcome.
“I am sure this extra equipment will prove very popular.”
