Drone shot solar panels

We are pleased to confirm that 240 council homes in Gravesham will soon receive significant energy‑saving upgrades, including air source heat pumps, solar panels and fabric insulation.

This work is part‑funded through the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund (Wave 3) and forms a key action within our Climate Delivery Plan.

These upgrades will help to:

  • reduce carbon emissions
  • lower household energy use
  • improve warmth, comfort and wellbeing
  • ensure homes meet the Decent Homes Standard and Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards.

How we select homes for upgrades

To ensure funding is targeted where it is needed most, we use Stock Condition Surveys and other energy‑performance data.

The funding can only be used for homes with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D to G, with the aim of improving them to C or higher.

As part of the assessment, we also check for adequate loft and wall insulation. Where insulation is missing or insufficient, this will be included in the upgrade package.

How to know if your home may qualify

We have identified an initial list of properties that may meet the funding criteria.

Our partners Baily Garner and Carbon3 are carrying out detailed assessments to confirm which homes are eligible.

Properties are assessed in batches. If you have not heard from us yet, you may still receive a letter soon.

You can check your EPC rating using the government’s online tool.

What happens if your home is selected

If your property qualifies, we will contact you directly to explain:

  • which improvements are recommended
  • when work is expected to begin
  • what to expect during installation

We look forward to delivering these upgrades and making homes warmer, greener and more energy‑efficient.
