Work is now underway at Milton Place, marking a major milestone in the delivery of new homes for local people through the Gravesham Community Investment Partnership (GCIP).
The development is the first to come forward through the partnership between Gravesham Borough Council and The Hill Group and will provide 76 new homes, helping to meet local housing needs while transforming a long-vacant site into a vibrant new neighbourhood.
The scheme includes:
- 61 apartments and 15 houses
- Affordable rent homes
- Supported living accommodation
- Wheelchair-accessible homes
- Family homes for private sale
Alongside the new homes, the development will create new public open space next to the existing skate park, improve walking and cycling links, and provide attractive landscaping designed to benefit both new and existing residents.
Milton Place has been carefully designed to reflect its surroundings, with high-quality public spaces and a tenure-blind approach, ensuring all homes share the same standard of design and landscaping regardless of tenure.
Councillor John Burden, Leader of Gravesham Borough Council, said:
"This is a really significant moment for the Gravesham Community Investment Partnership and for local people waiting for a good-quality, affordable home. Milton Place will deliver a genuine mix of tenures, including much-needed supported living and wheelchair-accessible homes.
"Alongside the new homes, this scheme improves the public realm for everyone in the area, with new green space next to the skate park and better pedestrian links to Gordon Gardens. It's a strong first step in our partnership with Hill, and a clear demonstration of what we can achieve together to reduce the borough's Housing Register and build the homes our residents need."
As work progresses, residents will begin to see the transformation of this long-vacant site into a sustainable new neighbourhood that will provide homes, green spaces and improved connections for future generations.
Milton Place is the first development to come forward through the Gravesham Community Investment Partnership, which was established to accelerate the delivery of new council-owned homes across the borough and help meet local housing need.
