Work has started on a fresh new look for the area around the Clive Road entrance to Gravesend station.
Led by Gravesham Borough Council using funding from the Government’s Pride in Place scheme and from the Lower Thames Crossing, it will see a range of improvements including new paving, seating, landscaping and significant new planting.
The design has been developed by landscape architects Mei Loci and work on site is being led by Verde Landscapes who will be onsite throughout August.
The station entrance will remain open throughout the works.
Cllr Deborah Croxton, Gravesham Borough Council’s cabinet member for community and leisure, said:
“This work will transform one of the key gateways for visitors to our town into a greener and much more welcoming area. It is just a part of a wider plan of works within the town centre, including public space improvements along New Road and King Street, the relandscaping of the lower area of St Andrew's Gardens, improvements to Town Pier Square and the creation or refurbishment of a number of community spaces.
“I am sure residents, visitors and businesses alike will welcome this range of improvements which will breathe new life into the town.”
