A major upgrade to the Clive Road entrance to Gravesend station is now complete, creating a greener and more welcoming gateway to Gravesend for residents and businesses.
The entrance has been transformed with new trees and planting, seating, high-quality paving and improved landscaping, creating a more attractive arrival into Gravesend and improving the experience of people travelling between the station and town centre.
The project was supported by the Pride in Place programme, which invests in local high streets, public spaces and community facilities, alongside funding from Lower Thames Crossing for the design and feasibility work.
Designed by Mei Loci and delivered by Verde Landscapes, the improvements form part of the council’s wider work to enhance Gravesend town centre and create better public spaces for local people and visitors.
The completed space was unveiled on Friday, 25 September 2026

Cllr John Burden, Leader of Gravesham Borough Council, said: “For many people, this is one of their first impressions of Gravesend, so it is important that the space feels welcoming and reflects the town positively.
“The improvements have created a greener and more attractive gateway to the station and show how investment in our public spaces can make a visible difference to people’s everyday experience of the town centre. Thank you to Lower Thames Crossing, Mei Loci, Verde Landscapes and Gravesend Station Management for helping us deliver these improvements.”
Gravesham MP Dr Lauren Sullivan also added: “It's fantastic to see Pride in Place funding delivering real, visible improvements for our community. This programme was created to back exactly these kinds of local projects, and it's great to see that investment making a difference at Gravesend Station, creating a greener, more welcoming entrance to our town. I warmly welcome this investment and the positive impact it will have”
