Sensory garden opening

Our new Sensory Garden at Woodlands Park, Gravesend, part of the Queens Green Canopy initiative, has been opened by the Lady Colgrain, the Lord Lieutenant of Kent.

The new garden has been created on the site of the old putting greens at Woodlands park, nestled in the shade of a small woodland area and next to the larger play equipment.

Lady Colgrain was joined for the opening by The Mayor of Gravesham Cllr Peter Scollard, Cllr Shane Mochrie-Cox our Cabinet Member for Community and Leisure, and Cllr Lauren Sullivan, as well as 30 youngsters from St George’s Church of England School who spent time investigating the bug hotels, searching for fairy doors and playing tunes on the musical instruments.

Cllr Mochrie-Cox said: “This is the first sensory inspired exploration area in Gravesham. It's fully inclusive design can be enjoyed by people of all ages, and we very much hope it gives residents and visitors many hours of enjoyment.”
