Business and creative networking spark new ideas at Gravesend’s Adult Education Centre
Around 80 local enterprises and creatives who follow Creative Estuary, packed into the historic hall at Gravesend’s Adult Education Centre on Tuesday 4 October, to hear about local regeneration plans and to tour one of Gravesend’s hidden gems.
Guests were able to view pottery and jewelry-making studios, dance and performing arts facilities, as well as other workspaces – some of which are available for use by community and business groups.

Lorraine Cox, Creative Assets Manager at Creative Business Estuary, commented:
“Development work takes a bit of time...we are starting to see a real appetite for growth in the Creative and Cultural sector in the Estuary and Gravesend is at the front of the queue!”
The event organisers from Kent Adult Education and Gravesham Borough Council brought together a diverse group of people who were invited to make greater use of the centre, which has been identified as one of growing number of creative assets within the area.
The Victoria Centre, is situated in Darnley Road, opposite Gravesend’s new bus hub and train station. It is the former site of a technical school and Gravesend Grammar School.
Cllr Dr Lauren Sullivan, Cabinet Member for Strategic Environment at Gravesham Borough Council said:
“Gravesham business network continues to grow, with new businesses joining every time. I enjoy speaking with businesses because they all have a unique story but share a passion and a commitment to the borough. If local businesses thrive, so does Gravesham.
“We are keen to facilitate relationships between businesses by helping create those chance interactions that can spark a new idea or enterprise, such as linking up with our Gravesham creative community, as we did last night at the Victoria Centre.
