The cost of a PCN is set in legislation. There are two charging bands: higher and lower. The higher charge is £70 and the lower charge is £50, both are reduced by 50% if they are paid within the 14 day discount period. For more information on these, please visit the PATROL (Parking and Traffic Regulations Outside London) website.
If you have received a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) for a Moving Traffic offence (with a PCN reference number starting KN), such as the Clive Road bus gate, these are issued and processed by Kent County Council and therefore any contact will need to be made to them directly. For more information, please visit the KCC website.
If you don't pay within 28 days from when you got the ticket this is what will happen:
- We will send you a Notice to Owner (NtO) document.
- If the notice remains unpaid, we will then send you a Charge Certificate, which increases the charge by 50%.
If the charge remains unpaid after these steps, we will register the debt at a County Court and this could then lead to a visit from a bailiff.
