This training aims at improving community awareness about "by-stander effect", sharing useful techniques when addressing different situations and informs about Gravesham Safe Space scheme.
You are on a train and see a person being verbally abused by another passenger. Would you get involved?
In town, you see a young person being followed by a suspicious looking stranger. Would you intervene?
A work colleague indulges in hate speech during a lunch break conversation. Would you challenge that?
While most of us would like to think we would help, research shows that isn’t always the case.
Anyone can take part in a free training session on bystander effect and the Gravesham Safe Space scheme.
The 90-minute session takes in:
- Who is bystander and what is their effect?
- What is the role of bystanders in the prevention of abuse?
- What are the tools that can be used to safely support or challenge others?
- Is bystander only about tackling abuse?
- More Safer Streets Gravesend and Safe Space locations.
- How to report anti-social behaviour correctly.
