Riverside Leisure Area

This park includes the Fort Gardens (including the New Tavern Fort and Chantry Heritage Centre), Gordon Gardens and Recreation Ground (including Gordon Lake and General Gordon's Statue), Gordon Promenade (including a café, Gravesend Rowing Club, Gravesend Sailing Club, and Gravesend Regatta Committee) and the Canal Basin Marina.

There are lots of events in this park throughout the year, including regattas, music festivals and the firework display.

There is a children's play site by the lake and a multi-gym called adiZone has replaced the older play equipment at the western end of the promenade.

National Cycle Route 1 also passes through this area (along Gordon Promenade and past the Canal Basin) and then follows the route of the Thames and Medway Canal towards Higham.

There is a statue on the site commemorating the contribution of one of the site's most famous people, General Charles George Gordon, better known as Gordon of Khartoum. Fort Gardens and the Dell area is locked half hour before sunset every evening while The Prom and Gordon Gardens is left open.
