Councillor complaints
All Members must comply with the Kent Code of Conduct. The code sets out rules about how they should behave and also requires them to disclose any personal interests they have.
What to include in your complaint
Please include the following information and be as detailed as possible:
- The name of the councillor you are complaining about
- Why you think they are in breach of the Code of Conduct
- Include any documents to support your complaint
How will my complaint be dealt with?
A Monitoring Officer along with an Independent Person will assess your complaint and if they find that your complaint is valid, they will try to achieve an informal resolution which is acceptable to you.
If this is not possible, the matter can be referred to a Complaints Sub-Committee set up by the Council to hear complaints against Councillors.
