Rogue traders involved in illegal waste collection will often cold call and target the vulnerable. They will monitor social media posts and look for opportunities to make money from illegally disposing of your waste items.
Protect against environmental crime
- Check that the waste carrier has an environment agency waste carriers permit. Search waste carriers
- Get a transfer note for the waste collected. This should be a formal receipt showing who the waste collector was, who and where they collected the waste from, the type and quantity of waste and where the waste will be legally deposited. It should also show the carrier’s Environment Agency permit number. See example transfer note.
- Use our bulky waste service, items can be collected easily and cheaply from your property. Book a bulky waste collection.
- Book a slot for the tip to take Household, DIY and garden waste to one of the Kent County Council House Waste and Recycling Sites.
- Watch out for vulnerable neighbours and residents are not being targeted by rogue waste carriers.
