About Healthy Homes

The Healthy Homes service is in place to ensure people are living in healthy and safe homes, free from significant hazards to avoid hospitalisation.

We are tenure neutral, we get referrals for privately owned, privately rented, housing association and GBC properties.

Common hazards we get referrals for include:

  • If a property is hoarded to the point that it could potentially be a fire risk, or cause trip hazards.
  • People who fall within the vulnerable category may have no heating or hot water because their boilers broken.
  • People may struggle with their mental health, had a break down and not been able to maintain their property leaving it in an awful state that they just cant get cleared themselves and need that initial help.

For private owned properties, we offer grants for heating works, such as boilers as long as the individual is eligible.

We also administer the Disabled facilities grant (DFG) for people who have been assessed by an Occupational Therapy and they have deemed it that they need property adaptions, usually stairlifts and bathrooms.
