About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone to join our Community Safety Team based in the Community Safety Unit, on a 2-year Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) and Community Safety apprenticeship contract.
You will be fully supported in developing your skills, knowledge and experience across the community safety field that will provide you with an excellent foundation and professional qualification from which to springboard your community safety career.
You will be working with a range of partner agencies including Kent Police and, alongside other members of the Team. You will get involved in a number of projects and initiatives that aim to reduce crime and ASB in Gravesham.
The Unit deals with a huge range of community safety issues including ASB, Safeguarding, Serious Organised Crime, Modern Slavey and Human Trafficking, Crime Analysis, Crime Prevention, leads the Council’s work on Prevent and Counter-Terrorism and commissions external providers to deliver projects to tackle youth-related ASB, divert young people away from crime and keep them safe.
During the apprenticeship, you will become a point of contact triaging responses to ASB and community safety issues being reported by the public, providing advice and signposting to appropriate services. As your experience grows, you will gradually acquire responsibility for investigating cases of ASB, finding informal and formal resolutions working alongside Council officers and external partner agencies and taking the lead on a small number of projects.

About You
Please refer to the Job Description and Person Specification for full details, however, the main essential qualifications and abilities that you should have are:
- Minimum of GCSE Maths and English A-C grade
- Excellent organisational and IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing
- Good team player, reliable and able to work on your own initiative
- Prepared to develop the ability to work with potentially vulnerable people dealing with sensitive issues both on the phone and in person
- Genuine interest in community safety and crime/ASB prevention
