Salary: £35,892 to £37,761 (including allowances)
Location: Civic Centre, Gravesend
Working Pattern: Full time
Hours: 37 hours per week

Main responsibilities
Undertake a range of specialist tasks including:
- Having lead responsibility for coordinating activity in conjunction with partner agencies to deliver the Council’s Tackling Domestic Abuse and Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy
- Developing and progressing towards the Council’s Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance Accreditation, working with statutory and voluntary sector agencies to achieve this
- Dealing with cases involving individuals for whom there are Safeguarding concerns (including but not limited to those in which domestic abuse is a factor) and making appropriate referrals to relevant partner agencies
- Delivering training to staff on the handling of Safeguarding and domestic abuse cases
- Having a key role in supporting the Council’s Lead Safeguarding Officer in strategic work including the reviewing of policies and procedures to ensure they are fit for purpose
- Representing the Council at the multi-agency North Kent Domestic Abuse Forum and the Kent Domestic Abuse Partnership Board
Essential qualifications/experience
- Extensive experience of working with statutory partner agencies, voluntary and charitable organisations in the context of delivering services to victims of domestic abuse and vulnerable adults
- Extensive experience of case management, including the making of formal referrals to external partner agencies and maintaining records
- Sound knowledge of legislation relevant to Domestic Abuse, Safeguarding and Community Safety
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to handle enquiries from members of the public, partner agencies and Councillors
- Ability to liaise confidently with people at all levels both orally and in writing and being computer literate. Desirable qualifications/experience
- Awareness and understanding of the role of Community Safety Units and broader community safety initiatives
- Experience of community engagement and campaigning work in respect of raising awareness, signposting to services and encouraging reporting
- Experience of delivering training sessions to staff, partner agency representatives and Councillors
