The Role
As a Housing Options Apprentice, you will play an important part in supporting the Council’s work to deliver a high‑quality service under housing and homelessness legislation. Working within the Housing Options Team, you will help ensure that customers receive timely, accurate and supportive guidance when they need it most.
In this role, you will:
- Support the delivery of the Council’s statutory housing and homelessness duties by providing excellent customer service and administrative support.
- Handle a range of customer enquiries, including answering telephone calls, responding to emails and managing both internal and external correspondence.
- Provide administrative support for team meetings, including preparing agendas, collating documents, taking minutes and recording agreed actions.
- Use a variety of IT systems to draft letters and emails, create documents, process financial information, and accurately record and analyse data.
- Assist in producing monthly reports, including sending reminders, monitoring responses and following up on any non‑compliance.
- Work closely with colleagues across the Housing Options Team to ensure a smooth and effective service for residents.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships within the department and across the wider organisation.
- Complete all apprenticeship learning commitments, as agreed with your line manager, the Apprenticeships Manager and your training provider.

Desirable qualifications/experience
- Ability to carry out basic Office skills
- Ability to follow set procedures and routines
- Experience of using Microsoft Office
- Good standard of written English
- An awareness of good customer service and communication skills
