Join our dynamic team as a Special Projects Officer and help us drive innovation and excellence in our Revenues and Benefits Service.

As a Special Projects Officer, you will be an integral part of a customer-focused, modern and efficient team. You will work closely with the Service Change Team Leader; Senior Systems Support officer and the Council’s Digital Team to implement systems developments and support digital transformation initiatives. Your role will involve managing, controlling and administering the NEC Revenues & Benefits system, as well assisting in the running of the support desk for Revenue and Benefits

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Support key projects prioritised by management, ensuring appropriate project management actions are taken. Assist with reviews of processes and procedures resulting from policy or legislative changes.
  • Digital Development: Collaborate with the Digital Team and System Support Officer to implement solutions that promote digital delivery of the Revenues & Benefits service. Redesign processes to maximise channel shift and support customer self-service.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively seek opportunities to improve services for the community. Lead the delivery and completion of agreed actions within timescales and budgets.
  • Collaboration: Liaise with other sections within the Revenues & Benefits service and represent the service at meetings with external agencies. Contribute to the achievement of the Council’s corporate plan outcomes.

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a good level of general education (5 GCSE or equivalent 9 – 4 grade)
  • Have excellent organisational skills, time management, communication, IT and a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Be a good team player
  • Have experience of working in a Revenues and Benefits environment
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of the NEC Revenues and Benefits system
  • Have excellent knowledge of Revenues and/or Benefits legislation
