We keep a register of people who are interested in building their own home. This register will give us an indication of the level of demand for self-build and custom build housing locally.

What is a self-build and custom build?

Self-build projects are usually those where you are directly involved in the design and construction of your own home. Custom build is usually where you work with a developer as an individual or a group to help deliver your own home to your own specification.

There may be some overlap between the two, for example some custom build developers offer the option of a serviced plot where you can design and build your own home as part of a larger scheme.

If you would like to register your interest in a custom or self-build plot, please use the following link to the Local Self Build Register where you will be able to register your interest in the plot by completing the online questionnaire for
Gravesham Self Build and Custom Housebuilding Register 

By signing up, you will help us understand the demand for custom and self-build plots in the borough, where people would like their plot to be and the type of house that they would like to build. Registration does not however guarantee that a suitable plot will be identified or become available. 

The information can be used to increase awareness among landowners, builders, and developers as to the level and nature of demand in the borough. It will also allow us to develop or housing, regeneration, and planning policies to support appropriate self and custom-build projects.
