There are over 50 CCTV cameras throughout the Borough. The majority of these are situated in the town centre. We also have a number of temporary cameras that are used to support multi-agency work to address short-term problems in certain locations.
Gravesham’s CCTV service is managed and delivered on a daily basis by Kyndi Limited with cameras in operation and monitored 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.

Why do we have CCTV?
They are there to deter criminal activity and anti-social behaviour, and also to assist with the investigation of offences and prosecute offenders.
The cameras are also used to help find people reported as missing and to track down children who get separated from their parent/carer while out in town.
Can you put CCTV cameras up on your property?
If you own your property, it is legal to install CCTV (including recording and playback capabilities) to protect your property against intruders and trespassers. You should ensure that your CCTV cannot be deemed an invasion of other people's privacy and/or lead to claims of harassment. The boundary of your garden is a good line to use as anything beyond that could be deemed intrusive.
If you do not own your property (e.g. you rent your property) you will need the owner's written permission to use CCTV.
Can we install CCTV on your road?
There must be good reason to do e.g. being used to deter or detect crime or persistent and serious Anti-Social Behaviour where the footage obtained could be valuable in securing a criminal prosecution. We can't install CCTV to tackle issues such as parking offences, dog fouling or littering.
