About our pre-application advice service
We strongly advise people to take advantage of our advice service before submitting their planning application. It can help reduce the likelihood of submitting an invalid application and overcome issues that may impact on the success of your application.
Although pre-application advice cannot guarantee your planning applications success, it can provide an experienced opinion and advice which helps save time and money whilst enabling speedier planning decisions to be made. For advice about dropped kerbs you can view our Dropped Kerbs page.
How much it costs
The costs provided below reflect the Planning Service’s time, if additional internal service providers such as Environmental Protection need to be consulted on a pre-application, please note this will incur additional fees. The charge will be £80.00, payable on application, for up to one hour of Environmental Protection officer time.
External agencies such as the Environment Agency, Natural England, Historic England and Kent County Council Highways operate their own paid for preliminary advice services, please contact these providers direct to seek estimation of costs, understanding of timescales and for their advice.
£90.00 Please note that no plans or sketches are required for this tier of advice
given the non-specific nature of this enquiry. If you are providing
sketches/ plans/ dimensions for a specific project at your property this
will qualify as Householder Advice Tier 2. Meetings are not offered as part of this service. If you require a meeting,
