Fridge/Freezer collections

Last updated on: 16-Oct-2020

If you are looking to dispose of unwanted fridges and freezers, we offer a collection service from domestic properties within the borough.

We do not offer this service to businesses.

It costs £17 per item.

We collect fridges and freezers every other Wednesday (except over the Christmas period).

Book a fridge/freezer collection

You can book and pay for your fridge/freezer collection online. The form takes around 5 minutes to complete and once you've added the items you want collected, you can select a collection date that suits you. You can even book a collection date up to six weeks in advance.

The form will ask you to:

  • provide your name and address
  • select the items you want collected
  • select a collection date
  • provide your payment details

You can pay using your debit or credit card.

Please read the Bulky Waste Collection - Terms and Conditions before booking a collection.

Items we collect

  • Fridges
  • Freezers
  • Combined fridge/freezer
  • Chest freezers

What you need to do on collection day

Items should be out for collection by 7am on the day and will be collected by 5pm. You don't have to be in when we collect your items.

Your items need to be left in your normal collection place (usually at the front of your property). This should be the most accessible point to the road, but not on public land. Our crews are not insured to enter your property so please do not ask them to collect items from inside your property (including your shed or garage).

If you live in a flat, the crew will normally collect items from the bin store.

Change or cancel your booking

You can change or cancel your booking and get a full refund providing you tell us by midday the day before your collection. No changes or refunds can be made after this time.

Using our form, you can:

  • add items to your booking
  • remove items from your booking
  • change an item to a different item
  • change your collection date
  • cancel your booking

Other ways to dispose

There are alternative ways of disposing of your unwanted items. For example, you can donate your items or take them to the tip.

Donate your items to charity

Did you know you can donate your unwanted furniture and electrical items? Here's a selection of charities that will take your items and some will even collect your items for free:

Pepperhill tip

You can also take your unwanted items to the Pepperhill Household Waste and Recycling Centre run by Kent County Council. You can visit their website to see what items you can take to the tip.
