About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Community Involvement Officer to help strengthen relationships with local communities, businesses, and key stakeholders across the borough. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact by delivering engagement activities and supporting events that bring people together.
You’ll play a vital role in organising community events such as Armed Forces Day, Armistice, and supporting the Leisure Team with major events like the Riverside Festival and Christmas Light Switch-On. You’ll also manage engagement resources, oversee community grants and awards, and champion projects that empower residents and promote active participation.
What you’ll be doing
- Build and maintain strong relationships with communities, businesses, and partners.
- Deliver engagement activities, including network meetings and high-profile events.
- Manage digital engagement tools such as GoVocal and maintain community information directories.
- Monitor outcomes from engagement activities and prepare reports for stakeholders.
- Identify and promote community projects that encourage participation and empowerment.
- Administer Community Grants and Community Awards.
- Support partners and businesses in achieving social value outcomes.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is:
- A confident communicator, with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Skilled in producing and presenting information in various formats, including reports and presentations.
- IT proficient, with strong knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experienced in facilitating meetings and working collaboratively to deliver projects or events.
- Comfortable engaging with the community to build relationships and support local initiatives.
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
