The role
- The role of an Independent Living Officer is to enable tenants living in Gravesham’s Independent Living Schemes to live independent lives whilst sustaining their tenancies, ensuring that the Independent Living Schemes provide a welcoming, safe and secure accommodation for Gravesham’s more vulnerable tenants.
- Our Independent Living Officers will deal with queries, incidents and issues that may occur in and around the independent living schemes. You will support and encourage social interaction, be creative and imaginative to deliver events and activities.
- As an Independent Living Officer, you will be the face of our Independent Living community, engaging directly with customers to understand and address their needs.
- In this role, your commitment to our values will help create a safe and inclusive environment where every individual is heard and respected. This will be achieved by providing a customer focused service that promotes dignity, empowerment, and choice.
- Tenants living in our properties can be diverse and often vulnerable and the role can be very challenging so you will need to have a flexible, caring, understanding and positive approach to assist them with any issues and concerns that may arise.
- Undertaking regular Health and Safety inspections, to include fire alarm and water testing, you will ensure that legislation is adhered to and report any issues. You will also report any communal repairs or building defects and follow through until completion
About you
- Experience in the following areas would be useful, but not essential, as full role specific training will be provided to right applicants.
- Able to communicate confidently and effectively with people at all levels.
- Able to influence, negotiate and implement practical solutions to problems.
- Experience of working with vulnerable adults in a social housing setting.
- Experience of working within a performance focussed environment.
- Experience of working within a multi-agency setting.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must a full driving licence and own car.
