Parks and play areas

Camer Park is comprised of 45 acres of designated Area Outstanding Natural Beauty (AoNB). Following the death of its last resident, the Camer estate was sold to Strood Rural District Council in 1967 and converted to a public park in 1971.

Visitors can choose to either roam at leisure admiring the variety of original trees that make up the mature parkland or undertake one of the series of walks devised by Meopham Footpaths Group through the adjoining woodland.

The park has areas for picnics and a children's play area. There is car parking, toilets and a cafe onsite.

There is a series of walks from Camer Park set up by the Meopham Footpaths Group. The site is available for dog walking. There are dog bins provided throughout the site.

In 2014 we worked with MKA Ecology, who deal with the relocation of reptiles from development sites, to introduce colonies of invertebrates to Camer Park.

You'll see areas of grass which are not cut very often in the park. This offers opportunities for the reptiles to bask in the sun on warmer days. The reptiles are not dangerous to humans, in fact, we are more likely to be a problem to them than they are to us, so while we encourage young explorers to go 'on safari', please be careful when in the park and under no circumstances remove a reptile if you see one. The reptiles are common lizards (Lacerta vivipara) and slow worms (Anguis fragilis).

The main car park is locked half hour before sunset every evening but pedestrian access and vehicle access to the recycling area is open 24 hours a day.
