We have six car parks in Gravesend which are either Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) car parks or Pay & Display car parks.

Charges apply Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm (including Bank Holidays).

Our ANPR car parks are pay on exit. Our pay & display car parks are pay on arrival.

How to pay for parking

Payment options differ between our ANPR and Pay & Display car parks.

ANPR car parks – pay on exit

  • Coins at the pay station (no change given)
  • Debit/credit card contactless and Chip and Pin
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay
  • AutoPay
  • RingGo PayLater

Pay & Display car parks – pay on arrival

  • Coins at the ticket machines (no change given)
  • RingGo

Blue Badge holders

We offer free parking for Blue Badge holders in both our ANPR and Pay & Display car parks but the process for obtaining free parking differs between the two types. In both cases, the Blue Badge must always be displayed when parking. Blue Badge holders are not permitted to park in Lord Street Temporary car park, this car park is for permit holders only.

For more information on the processes for Blue Badge holders, please visit our Blue Badge page.

Motorcycle parking

Motorcycles can park in any standard bay in any of our ANPR and Pay & Display car parks. This does not include Lord Street Temporary car park; this car park is for permit holders only.

We ask that motorists park considerately so that two motorcycles can fit in one bay. We have a motorcycle parking area at the northern end of Parrock Street car park, next to the disabled bays and there are also seven motorcycle bays in Rathmore Road car park, by the exit.

Motorcycles will still receive a Penalty Charge Notice (parking fine) for parking in breach of the restrictions displayed on the tariff boards. For example, parking outside bay markings.

Electric vehicle charging

We have electric vehicle charging points in three of our car parks. To find out more information, view our Electric vehicle charging page.

Safer Parking scheme

All our ANPR and Pay & Display car parks have been awarded the Park Mark Safer Parking standard. Find out more about this scheme on the Park Mark website.
