Apprenticeship scheme

Last updated on: 09-Apr-2021

1. Overview

We offer a wide range of apprenticeship opportunities for young people aged 16 to 24. We'll provide all the experience and training you need and it's great for those who prefer on-the-job work rather than in an academic environment.

Doing an apprenticeship with us allows you to earn while you learn. They can take between one and four years to complete depending on the level of apprenticeship and the department you're working with.

Anyone living in England, over 16 years-old and not in full-time education can be an apprentice. However we are particularly committed to offering apprenticeships to 16-19 year olds from our local community.

By employing apprentices we aim to:

  • Ensure we have a highly skilled and motivated workforce to meet the business needs of the future
  • Fill skills gaps that are evidenced through workforce development and succession planning
  • Ensure we support the local community by creating employment opportunities and developing the skills of young people in the borough
  • Involve the local community in delivering our services
