Last updated on: 09-Apr-2021

2. Small business rate relief

Businesses occupying properties with rateable values of no more than £51,000 will have their bills calculated using the 'small business non-domestic rating multiplier'.

The multiplier for the year commencing 1 April 2020 is 49.9 pence in the pound.

In addition, properties with a rateable value of no more than £12,000 will qualify for 100% small business rate relief.

Where the rateable value exceeds £12,000 but is no more than £15,000, the ratepayer will receive a percentage reduction in their rates bill.

You can apply for small business rate relief using our online form.

We'll ask you for

  • Your contact information
  • Details of the company for which relief is sought
  • Addresses, rateable values and rate relief received of properties you are liable for in England (if any).

Once you complete the form, we’ll aim to respond to your application within 5 working days.
